Rafik's
Rafik's is Carlisle's newest Indian Restaurant, but with the longest history.
In 1958, at the age of 27 and speaking no English, Rafique Uddin arrived in London where his first proper job was as a kitchen porter at Waterloo Railway Station’s staff kitchen.
In 1976 Rafique bought a business at a premises that was known as Stanley Hall in Botchergate, Carlisle and opened Carlisle's first Indian Restaurant – Meghna.
He has since opened the Shaha in 1979, the Botchergate Tandoori in 1982 (Carlisle's first Indian take-away), and now his family have opened Rafik's in his honour.
Expect nothing less than the art of sub continent cooking to be presented to you perfectly, a blend of aromas, textures and tastes... Rafiks will provide an experience that will involve all of your senses and transport you from the streets of Carlisle to the streets of Delhi.
